Red Epic Stereoscopic 3D Rig
The ultimate in state-of-the-art digital cinema, capable of 5K (5120x2160) RAW acquisition at up to 120fps, the Red Epic is truly at the pinnacle of modern camera technology. Testament to this fact, the vast majority of Hollywood blockbusters being filmed in 3D today are using this camera system, with directors such as Peter Jackson ("The Hobbit"), Ridley Scott ("Prometheus"), Mark Webb ("The Amazing Spiderman"), and Baz Luhrmann ("The Great Gatsby") all having used them to film their movies.
Our Red Epic 3D rig is configured around two Epic-X cameras in an over/through configuration for minimal size, using the state-of-the-art Screen Plane Steady-Flex beamsplitter mirror rig (currently exclusive to Golden Gate 3D) with the revolutionary Marshall autostereoscopic 3D monitor.
The rig is engineered for maximum stiffness and sports a fully integrated 8-axis Cmotion controller (Focus, Iris, Zoom, Interaxial, Convergence). We have PL, Canon, and Nikon mounts available to suit your project's needs and can reconfigure the rig in other ways for maximum flexibility. The total weight of the rig is under 35lbs, which is remarkable when you consider the quality of the resulting images!
camBLOCK Motion-Control Stereoscopic 3D System
The camBLOCK motion control system is one of the most advanced and portable systems available and one of the only capable of and built with stereoscopic 3D in mind. The modular system can be used to shoot repeatable, real-time moves, time-lapse, visual effects, and stop-motion animation.
Our Nikon D800E time-lapse rig is capable of 7.3K resolution in stereoscopic 3D which makes it well-suited for the most demanding large format IMAX 3D productions. It was used recently on two IMAX 3D productions in Jerusalem and Panama.
Exclusive to Golden Gate 3D, our DSLR beamsplitter was custom designed specifically to deliver the highest quality 3D time-lapse imagery possible in an incredibly lightweight (only 5lb) and compact form factor. The Nikon D800E yields 15% more resolution than the stock D800 with the optical low-pass filter (OLPF) removed. It is the highest rated camera sensor on DXOMark, beating out 50+MP medium format backs.

Canon C300 Stereoscopic 3D Rig
The brand new Canon C300 high definition camera is one of the best low light systems on the market today, able to be pushed to an amazing 20,000 ISO and letting you just about see in the dark with very little noise. Mounted in a 3D rig, it is a lightweight system weighing less than 35lbs fully configured, meaning it is a very easy setup to use on Steadicam and in other ways where weight is an issue.
The C300 features a Canon EOS mount which can take both EF and EF-S lenses. With prime lenses this rig truly frees you up to shoot in any possible lighting conditions in a way that has never been seen before, getting spectacular images in what were previously impossible situations. The C300 3D rig also uses the Marshall autostereoscopic 3D monitor for precise calibration and control.

Post Production 4K 3D Editing Suite
One of the most important facets of post production is being able to view the raw material as well as the final output in the highest possible quality. Since we have the capability to shoot at ultra-high resolutions of up to 5K (5120 pixels across) for clean downconvert to 4K for mastering and output, we believe it is necessary to be able to check and color grade our material at that resolution also.
As a result we have set up our 12-seat mastering theater with the Sony SXRD 4K 3D projector, one of the finest projectors in existence today at any price, and combined it with a DTS 7.1 channel reference surround sound theater. This enables us to maintain the strictest quality control on our work, in both 2D and 3D, to ensure that your project is of a standard suitable for the most demanding viewers.
To handle the amount of information generated by twin 5K capable cameras, we use a combination of systems built around the Adobe CS product suite as well as Cineform Studio Professional and Blackmagic Da Vinci Resolve, for full 4K 3D editing, grading, mastering and output to such formats as DCP and Blu-ray 3D. We can also output your finished project to the web using YouTube's 3D and Nvidia's 3D Vision Live, so your clients can view your content on their personal computers, mobile phones and other portable devices.
We can also edit, mix and color grade your project at full resolution throughout the workflow pipeline, thereby retaining maximum quality right through the process. Both 2D and 3D masters are available to you on completion, for maximum legacy compatibility with your customers who may not have 3D capable devices yet.
